- Food intake also determines how fast you lose weight
Are you overweight and want to lose weight? Exercise can be one way you lose weight. However, most people are lazy to do sports. In fact, exercise is needed to burn calories so that you lose weight, especially for those of you who are overweight.
The good news is, people who are overweight usually burn more calories when exercising than people who are thin. So, fat people lose weight faster. How can it be like that?
Obese people burn more calories during exercise
Obese people usually have very little activity (sedentary), even tend to be inactive. So, adding just a little activity can help burn more calories in the body than thin people. To do additional activities for obese people, their bodies have to do more work than usual, so that more calories in the body will be burned to get energy for activities.
When exercising, the heavier a person is, the more calories he burns while moving. This is because obese people have a greater body mass to move. As a result, the body will need more energy to be able to move (mass) the body, so the body will burn more calories and lose weight faster.
The amount of calories burned by obese people and thin people will be different even though they both exercise with the same intensity.
Based on the WebMD exercise calculator, obese people weighing 90 kg who do walking at a low speed (2 miles per hour) for 1 hour can burn as many as 225 calories. Meanwhile, thin people weighing 50 kg who do the same exercise can only burn as many as 125 calories.
Another example, obese people weighing 120 kg who exercise a stationary bike for 30 minutes can burn as many as 420 calories, while a lean person weighing 60 kg only burns 210 calories.
However, thin people usually exercise longer and are heavier than obese people, so that they are better able to reach the weight they want. People who have more muscle are also able to burn more calories.
Food intake also determines how fast you lose weight
Want to lose weight faster? Diet also determines. Even though you burn a lot of calories through exercise, if you add more calories from food, it will be harder to lose weight. This is usually a difficult thing for obese people, apart from exercise.
Usually obese people cannot hold their appetite and eat more after exercising. Of course, this can mess up your weight loss efforts. If you are already exercising, you should also adjust your diet so that weight loss can occur.
Although indeed obese people need higher energy because the energy used to carry out the basal body metabolism (breathing, pumping the heart, digesting food, etc.) is greater than thin people. However, it is still necessary to reduce food intake to achieve weight loss. Choose foods that are low in fat and sugar and increase your fiber intake to lose weight faster.
