Sex lubricants are sometimes needed to help penetrate more smoothly and not hurt them during sex. Don't worry if you are a beginner when it comes to using lubricants for sexual intercourse. We have prepared a guide to choosing the right type of lubricant, as well as steps on how to use it to increase the enjoyment of both.
Which type of lubricant is safe for you?
Lubricants, aka lubricants, are gels that are used as reinforcements to treat vaginal dryness. However, some couples also use sex lubricants when having anal sex.
Regardless of which sex activity you are going to do, it is important to know the types of lubricants on the market. The types are distinguished by their basic ingredients: water lubricants, silicone lubricants, and oil lubricants. In general, water or silicone-based lubricants are the best choices for sex. Neither type will break the condom. Meanwhile, oil-based lubricants will make the latex condom material wear thin, making it easy to tear.
On the other hand, water-based lubricants contain glycerin, which is sugar. Too much sugar in the vagina can increase the risk of vaginal yeast infections and urinary tract infections in women who are prone to this disease. Water-based lubricants also contain parabens and propelline glycols which can irritate the skin.
How do I use lubricants for intercourse?
You can use lubricants for sex in different ways, depending on your needs and creativity with your partner. However, the lubricant should be applied a thin layer to the penis (or a built-in condom) - just a drop or two. That way, the entire penis will remain protected from friction when it has penetrated into the vagina or anus.
You can also use lubrication on your fingers, sex toys, or any other part of your body that you want to "explore". If too much lubricant is being poured into the penis, gently wipe it with a towel or tissue to get rid of the excess. Remember, even though the intention is to accelerate penetration, don't use lubricants until they are soaked. One-one, your penis can slip because it is too slippery and eventually injury.
Even so, water-based lubricants usually dry and evaporate faster. So, you have to reapply it often if the sex session you and your partner are still going on.
There are also some risks that can be obtained from using lubricants
Sex lubricants or lubricants are indeed useful for preventing pain during penetration of sex. However, that does not mean it can make you free from other risks. The reason is, if you and your partner make love without a condom, lubricants will not be able to kill viruses or bacteria that live in the pubic area. So, you are still at risk of contracting venereal diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV if you have sex without using a condom.
As explained above, lubricants contain many chemicals. In people who are sensitive, exposure to these chemicals, especially in the area of the penis and vagina, can cause skin irritation. Usually the symptoms that appear are the pubic area becoming red, feeling hot like burning, swelling, or feeling itchy. The chemicals in lubricants can also upset the pH balance of the vagina and increase the risk of bacterial and vaginal yeast infections.
The key is only one: use lubrication for intercourse only in moderation.
