Uses
What is Ryzodeg?
Ryzodeg is a combination of two types of artificial insulin, namely insulin aspart and insulin degludec. Ryzodeg consists of 70 percent insulin degludec and 30 percent insulin aspart. That's why this insulin is also known as Ryzodeg 70/30. Its use can help maintain blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes, be it type one diabetes or type two diabetes. However, this insulin is not intended for use in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis.
The aspart insulin contained in Ryzodeg is fast-acting insulin which can work really fast. Meanwhile, insulin degludec is long-acting insulin which has a longer service life in the body. The combination of these two insulin starts to work within 10 - 20 minutes after injection and reaches a peak working period within one hour. Ryzodeg can also work for 24 hours or even more.
Combined insulin, such as Ryzodeg, is also called premix insulin.
How do I use Ryzodeg?
Use this medication as instructed by your doctor. Follow all directions on the label. Do not use this medication in doses lower or smaller than prescribed or use Ryzodeg for longer than recommended.
Ryzodeg is insulin which is used by injection in the subcutaneous tissue or subcutaneous tissue. This insulin can be injected into the area of the thigh, upper arm, or abdomen. Do not make the injection at the same point twice in succession. This will increase the risk of problems in the subcutaneous tissue, such as thickening of the fat tissue which can be seen from the appearance of the lump. This condition is called lipodystrophy.
This insulin is usually given once or twice a day at the same time as the main meal. You may be able to use fast acting insulin otherwise, on your other main meal schedule, if your doctor instructs you to. Follow the dosage that your doctor gives you very carefully. Do not mix other insulin with Ryzodeg. Use a different injection device to inject two different insulin.
Do not use this insulin if the liquid has changed color or looks cloudy. Contact your doctor or pharmacist for new medicines.
Do not share the injection pen with others even after the needle has been changed. This will increase the risk of passing the disease or infection from one person to another.
How to save Ryzodeg?
Store Ryzodeg in its original container and keep it away from heat and light. You can store the Ryzodeg in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2 - 8 degrees Celsius. Do not freeze the Ryzodeg or store it near the cooling element in the refrigerator. Discard frozen Ryzodeg and do not use it even though it is liquid again.
Stores unopened Ryzodeg
Store unopened Ryzodeg in the refrigerator and use it before expiration.
Save an already opened Ryzodeg
Store the injection pen at room temperature no more than 30 degrees Celsius. Do not store it in the refrigerator and use it within 28 days. Discard this medicine that has been more than 28 days even if there is still some medicine left. Do not store this insulin injection pen with the needle still attached.
Dose

What is the dosage of Ryzodeg for adults?
Patients with type 1 diabetes
- Initial dose for patients who have not used insulin: ⅓ to ½ of the daily total insulin requirement, once daily. The daily total insulin requirement for insulin-naive patients is usually 0.2 - 0.4 units per kilogram of body weight
- Switch from insulin premix with a dose of one or two times a day: equate the initial dose with the dose used insulin premix
- Switch from basal insulin once or twice a day: equate the starting dose with the one-time daily basal insulin dose at the same time as the main meal schedule. Basal insulin is insulin which is given at bedtime or when the patient is no longer eating / fasting
Patients with type 2 diabetes
- Initial dose: 10 units, once a day
- Switch from insulin premix with a dose of one or two times a day: equate the initial dose with the dose used insulin premix
