In fact, maintaining healthy skin is not necessary complicated. When done properly and regularly, just three steps are enough to keep skin healthy.
Three mandatory steps in skin care
Basically, the principles of proper skin care include cleansing, keeping moisture, and protecting. Therefore, you can follow the following three steps for skin care:
1. Wash your face with a gentle, soap-free cleanser
Cleaning your face can be done in the morning when you wake up to remove dirt and bacteria that stick to your face while you sleep. Do it again at night before going to bed to clean the makeup that you use all day and dirt that sticks to your face such as dust particles, pollution, and other impurities due to outdoor activities.
Facial skin care steps begin by washing your face using a gentle facial cleanser and do not contain irritating ingredients such as excess soap or added fragrances. Facial cleansers that are gentle and mild in formula can help maintain the structure of the skin layer to work optimally and condition your facial skin to remain healthy. In addition, gentle facial cleansers are generally suitable for all skin types.
Wet your face with water, then distribute the facial cleanser on the entire surface of your face using the tips of your fingers in a circular motion. After that, rinse your face thoroughly and dry it using a towel by gently tapping it on your face until it is dry.
2. Moisturize the skin with a moisturizer
The next step in skin care is to moisturize the skin. This step is important for everyone with every skin type. This means that you also have to choose the right type of moisturizer that suits your skin condition.
For example, for those of you who have oily skin types, you should use a moisturizer that is light, long lasting, and most importantly does not clog pores. Meanwhile, for those of you who want to keep dry skin moist, use a moisturizer that can be absorbed quickly by your skin.
Moisturizer is very helpful in preventing dry skin. That way, the skin will still feel soft and smooth. This skin moisturizer works best when the skin is still a little wet, usually after a shower. So, immediately apply a moisturizer after you finish bathing.
3. Protect skin with sunscreen
According to the Cleveland Clinic, protecting your skin from sun exposure is very important because the sun emits ultraviolet (UV) radiation. If your skin is left exposed to UV radiation for a long time without any protection, your skin can experience a variety of problems. Starting from wrinkles, dullness, stripes, appearing black spots, to increase the risk of cancer cell growth.
Unfortunately, sunshine cannot always be avoided. So, one of the important skin care steps to take is to use sunscreen to protect your skin.
Choose a sunscreen that offers SPF 30 or more and make sure the product of your choice can protect against both UVA and UVB radiation exposure.
Use sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going outside every day. Even when you wear closed clothes or the sun is not visible, still use sunscreen on facial skin and all parts of the body. If you are exposed to the sun continuously every day, use sunscreen every two hours.
Well, the three mandatory steps in skin care are quite easy, right? Come on, it's time to start maintaining healthy skin by getting used to these steps every day. If you have a special complaint or have questions about skin conditions, you should immediately consult a skin specialist (dermatologist).
