1. Follow the rules of physical distancing or physical distancing
Keep in mind, COVID-19 is transmitted through droplets that come out when someone talks, coughs or sneezes. So keeping your distance while exercising outside the home during a pandemic is the main requirement in keeping you and others from contracting COVID-19.
Apart from direct droplet splashes, transmission can also occur through contact with a surface contaminated with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.
Make sure you do not touch the surface of objects or public facilities, if you have touched them immediately wash your hands with soap and running water or use a hand sanitizer.
2. Select a safe sports location
Choose a sports location closest to home. Not in groups and especially avoid crowd locations.
The Covid-19 Task Force Communications Team, dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro said, before deciding to exercise outside the home, first find out the condition of positive cases of COVID-19 in the area.
"If you feel that sports outside are unsafe or in our area there are many cases, then you should refrain from exercising outside," said Dr. Reisa.
"Everyone has to remember that the goal of exercising is to keep the body healthy, not other goals such as wanting to get together," he stressed.
3. Choice of sports
If you want to exercise outside your home during the COVID-19 pandemic, avoid sports that require large numbers of people. A sport such as football will definitely need to be avoided for a while.
The choice of sport that can be done is jogging around the environment. You can try routes that have inclines or stairs.
Other activities that can be done include running or cycling. Start at a low intensity to prevent injury or excessive fatigue.
Dr. Reisa suggests choosing mild to moderate intensity exercise and avoiding strenuous intensity exercise. Because after exercising, the body needs time to return to normal or fit. This recovery time will be longer after doing vigorous intensity exercise.
"The recovery process takes longer to make us more at risk of infection," explained dr. Reisa.
4. Recognize the body's abilities
Recognizing your body's ability to accept the portion of exercise is important. This applies to sports inside or outside the home, because excessive exercise can actually be bad for the body.
Especially for those of you who suffer from certain diseases, such as asthma, heart, or lung, you should consult the exercise portion with the doctor concerned.
