Use
What is the function of the forumen?
Forumen are ear drops that contain docusatory sodium (docusate sodium). The main content of this forumen drug is to thin the wax that has accumulated in the ear to make it easier to remove.
Forums are usually used to thin and break down hard-to-clean earwax deposits.
These ear drops can be used by both children, adults, and the elderly (seniors) and can only be purchased with a doctor's prescription.
How do I use the document?
There are several things that you should pay attention to when using formulas, including the following.
- Use this drug in accordance with the method of administration of the drug recommended by the doctor or written on the drug package.
- If you are unsure of the various explanations and information contained on the medicine package, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- Only use this remedy for two consecutive nights when absolutely needed.
- If after two days of using the drug your condition does not improve immediately, or it gets worse, contact your doctor immediately.
- If you take a larger dose of forumen than you should, there is a chance that this drug will seep through your ear into your body.
The steps for its use are as follows.
- First tilt your head and position the ear you want to drop facing up.
- Drop the forumen according to the recommended dose into your ear.
- Keep your head in position with ears facing up.
- After that, put a small cotton swab as a tool to clean the wax in the ear hole that has been dripped.
- We recommend that you use this medicine at night before you go to bed.
- The next morning, pull the small cotton that is placed inside the ear. At that time the little cotton already contains earwax which is successfully diluted and comes out of your ear. That way, your ears will be clean again.
- In cases that are quite difficult, sometimes the doctor has to insert a syringe that has been dripped with warm water to draw wax out of the ear.
Avoid using cotton bud when cleaning your ears, as this can make wax even deeper into the hole.

Interaction
What other medicines may interact with forumen?
The interaction that occurs between two drugs in your body, has the potential to change the performance of the drugs you are taking or increase the risk of serious side effects. However, not all possible interactions are listed in this article.
It's a good idea to keep a list of all the products you use, whether it's prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal products. Then, consult your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine you are taking without your doctor's approval.
Although certain drugs should not be used together at the same time, certain cases indicate that interactions may occur even if two drugs are used at different times.
If you have this condition, your doctor may change the dose of the medicine you are currently taking. Your doctor may also take other precautions you may need.
Docusate, the main ingredient of the forumen, may interact with some of the following drugs:
Lactulose
The interaction that occurs between docusate and lactulose can affect how lactulose works. However, this interaction is only possible if you are taking these two types of drugs at the same time. This interaction is almost impossible when docusate is only used as the active ingredient of the drops.
Mineral Oil
The interactions that occur between docusate and oil containing minerals (mineral oil) effect can increase the side effects of use mineral oil so these two drugs should not be used together.
However, this interaction is only possible if docusate is consumed or drunk. Interactions may not occur if docusate is used for drops only.
Phenolphthalein
The interactions that occur between these two drugs can increase the side effects of phenolphthalein, because the use of these two drugs is not recommended when taken together.
However, docusate in furamen may not interact with the drugs that are consumed because docusate contained in furamen does not enter the body.
Linaclotide
Although not dangerous, avoid taking docusate together with linaclotide because these two drugs can interact. But as with other interactions that may occur, the interaction between the two drugs is very small if docusate is only used as drops only.
Even if not consumed, the possibility of drug interactions still exists.
Can food or alcohol interact with the forumen?
Certain drugs should not be used with meals or when eating certain foods because drug interactions can occur. Always discuss your drug use with food, alcohol, or tobacco with your health care provider.
Forumens are ear drops that do not enter the digestive system, so that the possibility of interaction of this drug with food or alcohol in the body is almost non-existent.
However, use this medicine with caution and make sure that while using this medicine, you are not eating because it is possible that droplets of the drug fall into the food and are accidentally consumed.
What health conditions can interact with this drug?
The presence of other health problems in your child's body can affect the use of certain medications. However, this drug is almost impossible to interact with any health conditions you have. This is because the forumen are ear drops that are not intended for consumption by your body.
Overdose
What should I do in an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.
If the number of drops you are taking exceeds the number of drops you need, this medication may enter your body through the skin of your ear. Even so, you probably won't have an overdose problem while using this drug.
But if you experience skin irritation, tell your doctor right away. Discuss other possible overdoses with a medical professional.
What should I do if I miss a dose of forumen?
Since these ear drops are only used when there is a buildup of earwax, do not use them if they are not needed because they may actually increase the risk of side effects on your body.
When needed, only use this medicine at night before going to bed, and take it for two consecutive days. Do not use this medication for more than two days during use. If your condition does not improve after two days of use, contact your doctor immediately.
