While some men think that pregnant women are sexy, many also say that their husbands are most prone to cheating when their wives are pregnant. Is this just a myth that stems from tasteinsecure in the heart or is there a medical explanation?
Is it true that husbands are prone to cheating when the wife is pregnant?
Scott Haltzman, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry at Brown University Medical School asserts that it is not true that pregnancy makes husbands more interested in looking at other women. There is no medical research or theory that can prove that men are most prone to cheating when their wives are pregnant.
Even so, all kinds of physical, psychological, and behavioral changes experienced by women during pregnancy are also felt by their husbands. These changes can make him feel "seconded".
The simplest example is the wife's time and attention, which is mostly devoted to maintaining the womb. This is natural because it has become an instinct for a mother-to-be to take care of her body as much as possible when she is pregnant for the health of her prospective child now and in the future.
On the other hand, shifting the focus of the wife's attention can trigger jealousy in the husband because he feels neglected. There are also many men who feel afraid that when their baby is born, their wives really don't love them anymore. For example, suppose you want to ask your wife to go out to their favorite place together, but she chooses to just rest at home for fear of being tired. You may also spend more time eating alone, or even eating out, because your wife cooks less often during pregnancy.
Apart from the aspect of emotional needs, men may also feel that their sexual needs are being neglected. Many husbands admit that they have less and less sex during their wives' pregnancy because of their decreased sex drive. The wife may also think that she shouldn't have sex while pregnant because it can hurt the baby. In addition, insecurity from feeling fat and unattractive may haunt some wives to have sex.
However, Haltzman once again emphasized that all kinds of changes that occur in the lives of women and men during pregnancy are inappropriate and cannot be used as a justification for cheating.
Husband and wife must understand each other
To avoid conflict and blind jealousy, both husband and wife must understand each other and care about each other's conditions.
You need to change the way you think and see things. All kinds of physical, behavioral, and emotional changes experienced by wives during pregnancy are normal and only temporary. You can show that you care for your wife by being more involved in the affairs of her pregnancy. For example, by asking her for a massage, shopping for baby clothes, discussing choosing a baby's name, accompanying her pregnancy spa wife, or even leavingbabymoon.
Wives, also assure your partner that he is still your priority even though you are pregnant. Encourage and support husbands to be READY husbands and great fathers. At the same time, ask him to understand that any changes you are experiencing right now may be making you uncomfortable in your own body. If you don't want to have sex, the two of you can still make out by hugging, kissing, or joking.
Jealousy is indirectly related to the commitment you have made since the first time you were in a relationship. If you are absolutely sure that he loves you with all your heart (and so do you to him), what else is there to matter?
