What Drug Terconazole?
What is Terconazole used for?
Terconazole is a drug used to treat vaginal yeast infections. Terconazole relieves vaginal burning, itching, and stops other conditions that may occur. This drug is an azole antifungal. Terconazole works by stopping the growth of yeast (fungus) that causes infection.
How do you use the drug Terconazole?
Read the drug's guide and the Patient Information Leaflet provided by the pharmacy, if available, before you get this medication and each time you buy again. If you have questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
This product is for use on the vagina only. Wash hands before and after using. Avoid contact with eyes. If it gets into your eyes, wash them immediately with plenty of water. Contact a doctor if eye irritation persists.
Use this product usually once daily before bed for 3 or 7 days (depending on the product) or as directed by your doctor. The dosage and length of treatment are based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Study all preparation and use instructions in the brochure. If using a cream, use an applicator. If using a suppository, you can use an applicator or your finger to insert it. Remove suppositories before use. Follow the directions on the product how to fill the applicator with cream or with suppositories. Lie on your back with your knees to your chest. Insert the applicator or suppository into the vagina as far as you are comfortable. Gently press on the applicator plunger to release the drug. Clean the applicator with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry. If the area around the outside of the vagina (vulva) also feels itchy / burning, you can also apply Terconazole cream once a day to the area.
Continue to use this medication every day until the prescribed amount is finished, even if you feel the symptoms have disappeared after 1 to 2 days. Stopping the drug too quickly allows the fungus to continue growing, which can result in a return of the infection.
You can use this product during your menstrual period. But do not use tampons or douches (vaginal cleansing sprays) while using this medication. You can use pads for your period or to protect your clothes from leakage of the medicine.
How do I store Terconazole?
This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product
