What is Oxaceprol used for?

Oxaceprol is a drug for treating various degenerative joint disorders and inflammation of the connective tissue.

The exact mechanism of oxaceprol is unknown. This drug affects connective tissue metabolism and has been used in dermatology to aid in healing wounds and rheumatic disorders. Experimental models of arthritis show that oxaceprol reduces leukocyte extravasation as well as adheres to the leukocytes in capillaries. In vitro studies have shown that oxaceprol stimulates the absorption of 3H-glucosamine and 3H-proline in chondrocytes and helps 3H-proline in the macromolecular structure of the cartilage matrix; which will be responsible for activity in tissue regeneration.

What is the dosage of Oxaceprol for adults?

Oral

Degenerative joint disorders

Adults: 200 mg three times a day. In severe cases, the initial dose can be increased to 400 mg three times a day. Consumed before meals, without chewing.

Elderly: dose reduction recommended.

Inflammatory connective tissue disease

Adults: 200 mg three times a day. In severe cases, the initial dose can be increased to 400 mg three times a day. Consumed before meals, without chewing.

Elderly: dose reduction recommended.

Topical / Skin

Superficial burns

Adults: 10% cream: Apply once a day.

What is the dosage of Oxaceprol for children?

Safety and effectiveness are not known in pediatric patients (less than 18 years).

What to do in an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Overdose symptoms may include:

• Sedation

What should I do if I forget to take medicine or forget to take medicine?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
