Difficulty erection problems aka impotence or erectile dysfunction are usually caused by certain diseases, such as heart disease or hypertension. Stress and various other psychological factors can also cause or worsen erectile dysfunction. But that's not all that can cause you to have a hard time getting an erection and getting excited in bed. What you eat everyday turns out to play a role in thwarting optimal erection. Oops!
List of foods that can cause a man hard to get an erection
1. Packaged foods and beverages
Who has never eaten packaged food? Starting from milk, juices, processed meats, fruits, to snacks, everything is available in packaged form. However, the frequency, and too much, of eating processed foods or drinks can negatively impact male sexual vitality and arousal in the long run.
Packaged foods and drinks contain high levels of sodium so that the product can last a long time. Too much salt in the body can increase blood pressure. Without adequate blood flow to the penis, it is difficult for a man to feel aroused and produce an erection optimally. According to one study, men who have high blood pressure tend to have a harder time getting an erection.
2. Foods that contain high fat
If you want a more exciting sex life with your partner, it's good to start limiting or even completely avoiding fatty and fried foods.
Foods that are high in fat reduce the amount of testosterone in the body. The hormone testosterone is a hormone that makes you excited and "turns on" a man's sexual life. If your testosterone drops, your sex drive will decrease.
On the other hand, male sexual arousal is also influenced by the smooth flow of blood from the heart to the rest of the body, including to the penis. Trans fats in fatty foods can increase bad cholesterol levels in the body. High cholesterol levels are known to be a major risk factor for clogged arteries (atherosclerosis). If blood flow is blocked, it is difficult for the penis to become erect.
3. Sugar and sweet foods
Eating too much sweet food can interfere with metabolism and contribute to calorie intake. This then can lead to insulin resistance which is at high risk of leading to diabetes. Excessive sugar intake can also increase bad cholesterol and trigliderides. When blood flow is interrupted, it is difficult for the penis to become erect because it doesn't get enough blood supply to make it tense.
4. Soybeans
A study published in the European Journal of Cliical Nutrition proves that eating too much soybeans can cause sexual dysfunction in men. In this study, it was stated that the intake of 120 mg of soybeans per day reduced the amount of the hormone testosterone. If your testosterone decreases, your sex drive will decrease.
But, that doesn't mean you have to abstain from eating soybeans. Soybeans are one of the best sources of vegetable protein for the body. It's just that the portions must be adjusted. That is why all foods that are consumed in excess are not good for the health of the body.
