This drug works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the body, especially after eating. The sitagliptin in this medicine also decreases the production of sugar produced by your liver.

What side effects might arise as a result of consuming Januvia?

The sitagliptin contained in Januvia itself does not usually cause hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia can occur if this drug is taken at the same time as other diabetes medications.

• You may experience blurred vision, weakness, and drowsiness due to drastic changes in blood sugar levels. Don't do any activity that requires high alertness after giving the injection before knowing how your body responds to Januvia
• Inform your doctor if you are planning to have surgery, including dental surgery, about all the medicinal products you are taking, including those that are prescribed and those that are not and herbal products.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. The provision of Januvia during pregnancy is only done if the benefits provided are greater than the risks to the fetus
• The combination of treatment that can be done based on studies only metformin and the thiazolidinedione group, not with insulin or sulfonylurea groups

Is Januvia safe for pregnant and nursing mothers?

Animal studies have shown no risk to the fetus. However, no similar studies have been conducted in pregnant women. The US Food and Drug Administration ranks this drug in pregnancy risk category B (no risk in some studies). It is also not known whether this drug is excreted by the body through breast milk or not. Always consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and need blood sugar control.

Januvia's Drug Interactions

Some drugs cannot be taken at the same time because they can cause drug interactions. Drug interactions can cause your medications not to work properly or increase the risk of side effects. One of the drugs that interacts with Januvia is digoxin.

You can also experience hypoglycemia which is characterized by weakness, blurred vision, sweating, difficulty speaking, tremors, abdominal pain and even seizures.

What if I forget to take medicine?

If you miss your scheduled medication, take it as soon as possible. When it is nearing the scheduled time for taking the next medication, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. Do not double your dose at one time.
