Not only useful for people who are sick, for those of you who are pregnant can also feel the benefits of BPJS, you know. Come on, find out all the benefits of BPJS for pregnant women through the following reviews.
What are the benefits of BPJS for pregnant women?
Pregnant women who are registered as BPJS will have their health guaranteed starting from the beginning of pregnancy, childbirth, to the postpartum period. It does not stop there, BPJS also provides family planning (KB) services, which include counseling, administering drugs, and installing contraceptives.
The various benefits of BPJS for pregnant women are:
1. Services during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum
Examinations during pregnancy, the puerperium and postpartum are very important to maintain the health of both mother and baby. With this BPJS service for pregnant women, the risk of infant and maternal mortality during and after childbirth can be prevented as early as possible.
BPJS Kesehatan covers the cost of antenatal care orantenatal care(ANC) three times, namely once in the 1st trimester, once in the 2nd trimester, and twice in the 3rd trimester. In addition, you are also entitled to get post-natal examinations (postnatal care / PNC) three times, and family planning services.
In order for the health of your fetus to be guaranteed, you should immediately register the baby in your womb to become a BPJS Kesehatan participant. This aims to anticipate any health problems or special treatment for babies from the womb.
2. Ultrasound services
Ultrasound is an important medical procedure for monitoring the development of the fetus in the womb. Well, you can get this one service if you are registered as a member of the BPJS.
Even so, not all USGs will be financed by the BPJS. The USG service that is covered by the BPJS is only USG recommended by a midwife or doctor. This of course will be given if the fetus has developmental problems or certain abnormalities during pregnancy.
So, if you want to do an ultrasound on your own, then this will not be financed by BPJS, aka you have to pay for it yourself.
3. Delivery services
Childbirth is one of the most important services provided by BPJS for pregnant women. The delivery of pregnant women can be done at the Puskesmas or the same clinic where you have your pregnancy check-up. However, if this is not possible, you can give birth in the hospital after getting a referral from a midwife or doctor.
The good news is that the BPJS does not only cover your current delivery. However, your future deliveries will also be covered by the BPJS. Most importantly, make sure you always pay dues on time and comply with your obligations as a BPJS participant.
4. C-section service
Another good news, caesarean section is one of the services covered by the BPJS. Even so, not all caesarean sections will be funded by the BPJS, you know. Yes, this depends on the reason for the caesarean section itself.
The Caesarean section will be financed by the BPJS if you get a referral from a doctor. This is usually done for pregnant women who are at high risk, for example bleeding, preeclampsia, placenta previa, or other emergency conditions. If so, a caesarean section may be performed to prevent possible disability or death of the mother and fetus.
Delivery service procedures with BPJS Kesehatan
All service fees for pregnant women will be financed by BPJS Health, provided that they are according to medical procedures and indications. That is why, you need to understand the procedure for using BPJS for pregnant women so that their health services can run smoothly and without obstacles.
The steps for using BPJS for pregnant women are as follows:
1. Visit the nearest Puskesmas
When you want to have a pregnancy checkup, the first step you have to take is to come to the nearest Puskesmas. This pregnancy check can only be done by midwives or general practitioners at FASKES 1 (Level 1 Health Facility). Usually, your FASKES 1 has been printed on your personal BPJS card.
However, if you need certain medical examinations or actions that cannot be handled by the Puskesmas, then you may go directly to the hospital that works with BPJS. However, make sure you have a referral letter from the midwife or doctor first. Because if not, you will be considered to have a pregnancy checkup at your own expense, aka without using the BPJS.
2. Approaching delivery
If your pregnancy is fine and there are no abnormalities, then your delivery will be handled by the Puskesmas or FASKES 1 which provides maternity services. Usually, your delivery place will be the same place where you will have your pregnancy checked.
However, if there are certain abnormalities in pregnancy and tend to be at high risk, then you will be immediately referred to the hospital. These abnormalities can include the position of a breech baby, placenta or placenta covering the birth canal (placenta previa), or a baby weighing over 4.5 kilograms.
BPJS will cover all delivery costs at the hospital, both normal delivery and cesarean section.
3. The puerperium
After giving birth, you can still take advantage of BPJS services for pregnant women. The service is namedpostnatal care(PNC), namely health checks after childbirth or the postpartum period.
PNC services covered by BPJS are carried out three times, namely:
- PNC 1: performed in the first seven days after delivery
- PNC 2: performed on day 8 to day 28 after delivery
- PNC 3: performed on the 29th to 42nd day after delivery
4. Family planning services
The benefits of BPJS for pregnant women do not just stop after you give birth, but continue until the choice of contraception. The goal is to adjust the distance between the birth of the child so that the condition of the mother and baby remains healthy and optimal before deciding to have another child.
After your condition is stable after giving birth, you can take advantage of family planning services at the FP FASKES. There you will be given counseling about family planning programs and information about contraceptives. Do not hesitate to ask what type of contraception is suitable for your needs and health condition.
