Children spend most of their time playing. That is why they really like toys ranging from toy cars, dolls, puzzle, or a ball you can easily find at a toy store. But when your little one looks like he's getting bored with the collection, why not try to make something new yourself? Psstt… Apart from being definitely cheaper, a toy made by yourself (DIY or do it yourself) as well as helping to hone children's creativity.

A selection of easy and cheap children's toys to make

What are you waiting for, let's make the following toys so that your little one doesn't get bored playing at home!

1. Flour plasticine

Source: DIY Network

Who says flour can only be used to make cakes? You can modify the remaining flour in the kitchen to make "plasticine" which is much safer than waxed plasticine (clay/play dough). Your little one can form flour plasticine into various shapes, for example stars, moons, cars, flowers and others.

In addition to honing children's thinking and imagination skills, this game also trains children's motor skills to grip, twist, or press objects. Amazingly, this plasticine is just as durable as toy plasticine in general.

Well, making this game is quite easy, really. You only need to prepare a few ingredients, such as:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 glass of water
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon of canola oil
  • Food coloring

In a plastic basin or bowl, combine water, flour, and oil. Then mix well until the dough is smooth, no clumps or evangelism. Set aside for a while, and heat the pan on the stove. Put the plasticine mixture in the pan, keep stirring for 2-3 minutes and turn off the heat.

After the dough has cooled slightly, add enough dye and stir until the color is evenly distributed. Remove the flour mixture and cool. Plasticine is ready to be played by your little one with you and your friends.

2. Ball basket made of plastic bottles

Plastic drinking bottles at home wasted? Well, what a shame. Even though these bottle marks can be used as fun children's toys, namely ball baskets. This game is very effective for your baby who likes to throw ball.

If you are worried that the child's throwing ball will hit the furniture in the house, providing a ball crate could be a solution. How to make it quite easy, you need to prepare ingredients such as the following:

  • 1 1.5 liter plastic bottle
  • 5 hand-sized plastic balls
  • Masking tape
  • Small basket
  • Scissor
  • Marker

When the ingredients have collected, measure the child's waist height near the wall. Then, mark it with a marker. Cut the plastic bottle and just take the center. Then, stick the long piece of tape on the inside of the bottle.

After that, stick the plastic bottle with the tape on the wall. You already imagined that the cut plastic bottles would become a ball basket, right? After that, place a small basket or bucket under it to accommodate the balls that pass through the bottles. The basket ball game is over and ready to play.

Don't forget to teach the children to throw the ball into the bottle basket. To make it more interesting, while throwing the ball teach the children to count the points of how many balls are entered.

In addition to training a child's dexterity in throwing a ball, he can also learn to concentrate and count.

3. Rainbow bubbles

Playing bubbles on the lawn is sure to be fun, right? The bubbles you are going to make are not ordinary soap bubbles, they are rainbow bubbles. The materials needed must be available in your home, such as:

  • Used plastic bottles
  • Wear socks
  • Rubber
  • Liquid soap
  • Colorful food coloring
  • Scissor

First, cut the end of the plastic bottle, then cover the open end of the bottle with a sock and tie it with rubber. Then, drop the dye over the sock following the edge of the bottle. Get a container and put liquid soap in it. Stick the bottle covered with the sock into the container filled with soap. Bubbles are ready to be made by blowing.

You can mix the remaining soap in the container with water to make regular soap bubbles. Pretty fun kid's toy, right? Apart from playing, children can learn various colors. Make sure you teach your child to blow on the part of the bottle, not inhale it.
