Use
What is Vidarabine for?
Vidarabine is an antiviral drug that is often used against an unknown eye virus.
Vidarabine ophthalmic is used to treat eye infections caused by the herpes virus.
Vidarabine ophthalmic can also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
What are the rules for using Vidarabine?
Follow the rules given by your doctor or pharmacist for the use of vidarabine ophthalmic eye drops. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Wash your hands before applying the ointment.
For ointment application:
- Hold the tube in your hand for a few minutes to warm it up so that the ointment comes out easily. Tilt your head back slightly and gently lower your lower eyelid. Apply a thin layer of the ointment, about half an inch in length, on your lower eyelid. Close your eyes and move your eyes in all directions for 1-2 minutes. If you are going to use another eye medication, leave it at least 10 minutes apart before using that medication.
Do not touch the tube mouth on any surface, including the eyes and hands, as the tube mouth is sterile. Contamination of the tube mouth can cause eye infection.
