Functions & Uses
What is the drug Sporacid used for?
Sporacid is a brand of antifungal medicine. This drug is usually prescribed by doctors to treat yeast infections in adults. This includes infections in any part of the body, including the lungs, mouth, throat, or toenails and hands. Antifungal drugs will not work to treat viral infections such as flu or colds.
Each capsule of this drug contains 100 grams of Itraconazole. Itraconazole is an azole class antifungal agent that has strong antifungal activity with a broad spectrum.
Like all azole-class antifungal agents, this drug acts to interfere with the development of fungal cell membranes by inhibiting the enzyme cytochrome P450 14α-demethylase (P45014DM). This inhibitory process prevents the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, which is an important component in the cytoplasmic membrane of fungi. By taking this medicine, the growth and development of fungi in the body can be minimized or even stopped.
This medicine cannot be obtained carelessly because it is only available by prescription.
