What is the drug Pemirolast used for?

Pemirolast is a drug to treat allergies (anti-allergies). This medicine blocks the processes in the body that cause allergy symptoms after exposure to the allergen.

Eye pemirolast is used to treat and prevent itching of the eyes caused by allergies.

Eye pemirolast should not be used to treat eye disorders caused by wearing contact lenses.

Eye pemirolast may also be used for other purposes not listed in the medication guide.

What are the rules for using Pemirolast?

Follow all directions on the label of your prescription medication. Do not use this medication in amounts greater or less or for longer than recommended.

Wash your hands before using the eye drops.

To apply eye drops:

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down to make a small pouch. Hold the dropper over the eye with the tip down. Look the other way from the dropper and squeeze a drop of medicine.
• Close your eyes for 2 or 3 minutes with your head down, without blinking or squinting. Apply gentle pressure to the inner corner of your eye for about 1 minute, so that the medicinal fluid does not flow out of your eye.
• Use the number of drops your doctor has prescribed. If you are using more than one drop, wait about 5 minutes between the next drops.
• Wait at least 10 minutes before using any of the eye drops your doctor has prescribed.

Do not use this medication while wearing contact lenses. Pemirolast eye drops contain a preservative that can be absorbed by soft contact lenses. Wait at least 10 minutes after using this medicine before using your contact lenses.

Do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or place it directly in your eye. Contaminated pipettes can infect your eye and can cause serious vision problems.

How to store Pemirolast?

This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.
