Refill drinking water depots are indeed one of the alternatives chosen to meet the family's drinking water needs at home. However, where the water comes from and how the processing of the refill drinking water depot (DAMIU) needs to be considered more carefully, including compliance with applicable standards, because we cannot directly control it.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia has stipulated regulations regarding the requirements for adequate refill drinking water depots. By knowing the standards and how they are monitored, you can check again whether your DAMIU subscription has met the rules or not.
DAMIU's standards for quality, hygiene and sanitation
DAMIU must meet the standards of the regulations that have been set by the government. DAMIU water will be consumed and enter the body. So water cleanliness is an important thing that must be maintained.
Hygiene and sanitation regulations are described in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, no. 43 of 2014. Some important points regarding the standard of refill drinking water depot (DAMIU) which refer to these regulations include:
- Hygiene and sanitation need to be considered, especially from the place, equipment, and people who handle drinking water directly so that it reaches consumers.
- DAMIU managers must also fulfill a certification issued by the local government. This certification is carried out so that DAMIU can consistently guarantee its hygiene and sanitation.
- The DAMIU management place must carry out employee health checks, at least once a year.
- It is important for the manager of the refill drinking water depot (DAMIU) to maintain the quality of the standard equipment and equipment used. Including keeping the gallon clean before being filled with drinking water. The gallon to be filled must be cleaned first, at least ten seconds and given a clean lid after filling.
- Gallons that have been filled with drinking water, must be immediately given to consumers and must not be stored in DAMIU for more than 24 hours to avoid the possibility of being contaminated.
- DAMIU officers are required to attend hygiene and sanitation training in drinking water depots organized by the government. Training participants who have passed receive a certificate signed by the local government and the training organizer.
Supervision of drinking water before it is ready for consumption
All types of drinking water that may be distributed to the community must go through a clinical trial process first. The purpose of this clinical trial and feasibility is to protect consumers from the risk of health problems.
This clinical standard trial also applies to drinking water refill depot products. This is regulated in the Regulation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia no.492 / MENKES / PERIV / 2010.
One of the regulations states that drinking water that is safe for consumption needs to meet physical, microbiological and chemical requirements. If the water does not pass these clinical trials, its cleanliness and safety are questionable.
Water is consumed every day, so it is important to check whether the selected water has passed the quality test.
Pay attention to cleanliness and the content of water consumed
You already know the importance of meeting the standard of refill drinking water depots for the health of consumers. Apart from hygiene and safety issues, the water content that you and your family consume must also be considered. There are several types of drinking water available on the market, including plain water and mineral water.
Minerals are needed by the body, but are not produced by the body itself. Usually minerals are obtained from food, but to fulfill its sufficiency, you can consume mineral water.
The content in minerals is useful for supporting organ function, such as helping metabolic processes, playing a role in bone formation, and helping to improve the immune system. Because it is beneficial for health, mineral water is good for family consumption every day.
So to protect your health, you have to be more careful about cleanliness, safety, and the water content that your family drinks at home.
Ensure that the source conditions and the water treatment process avoid contact with human hands, so that it is safe from contamination by substances that are harmful to health. Therefore, always remember to find out whether your refill drinking water depot meets the applicable standards.
