What Drug Loteprednol?
What is loteprednol for?
This medication is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies such as swollen eyes, redness, and itching. Loteprednol belongs to a class of corticosteroids drugs.
How to use loteprednol?
If you wear contact lenses, ask your doctor if you can wear them during treatment. Don't wear contact lenses if your eyes are red. Sterilize contact lenses according to the manufacturer's instructions, and check with a doctor before you start using them again. If your doctor doesn't approve of wearing contact lenses during treatment, remove the lenses before using the eye drops. The preservative in this product can be absorbed by contact lenses. Wait at least 10 to 15 minutes after each drop before putting on the lenses again. To apply eye drops, wash your hands first. Shake the bottle well before using. To avoid contamination, do not touch the tip of the dropper or touch it with your eyes or other surfaces. Tilt your head back, look up, and pull the lower eyelid down to make a pocket. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place 1 drop into the bag. Look down and slowly close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger on the corner of your eye (near your nose) and press gently. This will prevent the drug from flowing out. Try not to blink and don't rub your eyes. Repeat this step for your other eye if directed so and if your dose is prescribed in more than 1 drop.
Use this medication usually 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. Do not rinse the dropper. Change the cap after use. If you are using another type of eye medicine (for example, other eye drops or ointment), wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before using any other medicine. Use eye drops before eye ointment to allow the drops to enter the eye. Use this remedy regularly for optimal benefits. To help you remember, use it at the same times each day. The dosage and length of treatment are based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not use this medication more often or for longer than prescribed because it can increase your risk of side effects.
Continue to use this medication for the full time prescribed. Do not stop using this medication without consulting your doctor. Some conditions can get worse when this drug suddenly stops. your dose may need to decrease gradually. Do not use this product if it becomes polluted (for example, the drops turn dark color). Use of contaminated eye medication can cause infection, serious damage to the eye, and loss of vision. Contact your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve after 2 days or if it gets worse.
How to store Loteprednol?
Keep away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets. Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down a drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Stop using loteprednol and call your doctor if you experience:

What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you forget a dose of this medicine, use it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
