What is Invokana?
Invokana is an oral drug intended for people with type two diabetes. Consumption of this drug can help diabetics (people with diabetes) control their blood sugar to stay within safe limits without increasing the likelihood of weight gain as long as it is accompanied by a healthy diet and regular physical exercise. Invokana can also help lower blood pressure.
This drug contains the active ingredient Canagliflozin which works by instructing the kidneys to reduce reabsorption aka glucose reabsorption into the body. When the level of reabsorption of glucose decreases, glucose is excreted in the urine, thereby reducing the amount of glucose circulating in the blood. Its use is not intended for patients with type one diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.
What are the rules for using Invokana?
Invokana is an oral medication that is given once a day. Actually this drug can be taken before or after meals. However, its best performance occurs when taken before meals. That's why Invokana is usually consumed before breakfast or the first meal of the day.
Invokana storage rules
Store this drug at room temperature not more than 30 degrees Celsius and avoid light and high humidity. Do not store this medication in the bathroom and keep it out of reach of children.

What should I do if I overdose?
In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the emergency services provider (119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the schedule is too close to the next schedule, skip the dose and continue with the normal schedule.
