Function

What is Invokana?

Invokana is an oral drug intended for people with type two diabetes. This drug contains the active ingredient Canagliflozin which works by instructing the kidneys to reduce reabsorption aka glucose reabsorption into the body. When the level of reabsorption of glucose decreases, glucose is excreted in the urine, thereby reducing the amount of glucose circulating in the blood. Its use is not intended for patients with type one diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.
