What Drug Detemir Insulin?
What is insulin detemir for?
Insulin Detemir is generally used in the right diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in diabetics. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and problems with sexual function. Proper diabetes control can also reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke.
Detemir insulin is a man-made product that is similar to real insulin. This drug can replace the function of insulin produced in the body. This drug acts longer than real insulin, keeping insulin levels low and stable. This drug works by helping blood sugar (glucose) enter the cells so that the body can use it for energy. Detemir Insulin can be used with shorter-acting insulin products. This drug can also be used with other diabetes drugs, such as Metformin and Exenatide.
How to use insulin detemir?
Study all instructions for use from your health care professional and product packaging. Before using this medication, check the product for particles or discoloration. Do not use it if the things mentioned earlier are happening. Detemir insulin should not contain particles or discoloration. Before injecting a dose, sterilize the injection with alcohol. Do not inject into the same area to reduce skin injury and prevent the development of problems in the subcutaneous tissue (lipodystrophy). Detemir Insulin can be injected into the area of the abdomen, thighs, or upper back of the arm. Do not inject into a vein or muscle as this can cause blood sugar to become very low (hypoglycemia). Do not rub the area that was injected. Do not inject into skin that is red, swollen, or itchy. Do not inject cold insulin as it will be painful. Containers used to store insulin can be stored at room temperature (see also Storage section). Do not shake the storage container.
Inject this medication under the skin as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day. Insulin Detemir is usually injected at dinner or before bed. If you are taking it twice daily, give it as directed by your doctor, usually the first dose in the morning and the second at dinner, before bed, or 12 hours after the morning dose. This product should not be mixed with other insulin. Do not use Insulin Detemir in infusion pumps. Do not change brands or types of insulin without instructions from your doctor.

The dosage is based on the medical condition and the body's response to treatment. Measure your dosage very carefully because the slightest change in dosage may have a big impact on your blood sugar levels.
Monitor your blood or urine sugar levels as directed by your doctor. Take this measurement down and tell your doctor. This is very important to do to determine the right insulin dose for you.
Use this remedy regularly for the best benefits. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day.
