What Drug Fosinopril?
What is fosinopril for?
Fosinopril is commonly used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This drug is also used to treat heart failure.
Fosinopril is an ACE inhibitor and works to relax blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.
How to use fosinopril?
Fosinopril is taken by mouth one to two times a day, with or without food, as directed by your doctor.
The dosage is based on your health condition and response to therapy.
Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium can slow down the absorption rate of fosinopril. If you are taking this type of antacid, take it at least 2 hours before or after you take fosinopril.
Routinely consume this drug to get optimal medicinal properties. To help you remember, make sure you always take the medicine at the same time every day. It is important to continue the dose until it is finished, even if you feel better. Most people with high blood pressure don't complain of pain.
For hypertension therapy, it may take several weeks for the efficacy of the treatment to be seen. For the treatment of heart failure, it will take about 2 weeks for you to feel the optimal effect of the therapy. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens (such as blood pressure staying at the same level or increasing).
How is fosinopril stored?
This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.
