- You are a person who has prostate problems (difficulty removing blood)

- You have epilepsy.

Animal studies suggest that dosulepin may be a risk to the fetus if consumed by pregnant women. However, the doctor may consider whether the benefits of this drug outweigh the risks, if the mother's condition is fatal if left untreated.

Side effects
What are the possible side effects of Dosulepin?
The most common side effects of dosulepin are:
- dry mouth
- blurred vision
- changes in heart rate
- constipation and difficulty passing stools
- drowsiness
- increased sweat production
- skin rash
- tremor (shaking)
- changes in sexual function
- low blood pressure, which can cause dizziness or fainting.
However, if you experience any of the following symptoms after using dosulepin, you should contact your doctor immediately:
- fever (high temperature, sweating, chills)
- discomfort around the lower right rib
- hepatitis (damage to the liver causing dark urine, yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, nausea and fever).

Drug Interactions
What drugs can interfere with the work of the Dosulepin drugs?
You should tell your doctor if you are currently using or have used any of the following medicines as they may affect the action of Dosulepin tablets / capsules:
- A drug used to treat depression is called a mono-amine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). You should not use Dosulepin tablets / capsules at the same time as MAOIs or within 14 days of discontinuing use of this medicine.
- Other medicines used to treat depression called SSRIs (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors)
- Medicines given to you to treat high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Allergy / hay fever medicines containing terpenadine or astemizol
- Sotalol (medicine for heart or blood pressure problems) or halofantrine (medicine for malaria)
- Any drugs called barbiturates (eg phenobarbital for sudden illness, amylobarbitone for sleeplessness) or methylphenidate (used to treat behavioral problems)
- Any medication that contains opioids (this includes codeine, morphine, co-proxamol and co-dydramol)
- Drugs called sympathomimetic agents - these include ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, adrenaline and noradrenaline (these drugs can be found in medicines used to treat heart problems and asthma as well as some decongestants and cough / cold medicines).
Can certain foods and drinks interfere with the work of the Dosulepin drugs?
Certain drugs should not be used with meals or when eating certain foods because drug interactions can occur. Consuming alcohol or tobacco with certain drugs can also cause interactions to occur. Discuss your use of drugs with food, alcohol, or tobacco with your health care provider.
What health conditions can interfere with the performance of the drug Dosulepin?

What is the dose of dosulepin for adults?
25 mg three times a day, gradually increasing to 50 mg three times a day if necessary, alternatively as a single dose at night. A maximum of up to 225 mg / day can be used in major depression.
For the elderly: the initial dose is 50-75 mg per day.
