What Drug Disopyramide?

What is disopyramide for?

Disopyramide is a drug used to treat several serious (possibly fatal) conditions related to an irregular heartbeat, such as persistent ventricular tachycardia. This medication is used to restore the heart rhythm to a normal level and maintain a stable heart rate.

Disopyramide, known as an anti-arrhythmic drug, works by blocking certain electrical signals in the heart, which can cause an irregular heartbeat. Treating an irregular heartbeat can lower the risk of blood clotting disorders, as well as heart attack or stroke.

How is disopyramide used?

You can take this drug with or without food exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

If you are using a tablet immediate release, You will usually consume it 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. If you take a tablet extended release, You will usually consume it twice a day or as directed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush or chew the capsules or tablets extended release. Doing so can release all of the drug at once, or in other words increase the risk of side effects. Do not cut long-term effect tablets unless they have a dividing line and your doctor or pharmacist has told you to do so. Swallow the whole or pieces of the tablet without crushing or chewing it.

Dosage is based on your age, kidney and liver function, medical condition, and response to treatment.

How do I store disopyramide?

What is the dose of disopyramide for adults?

To treat arrhythmias, the dose of disopyramide is 400-800 mg / day. The recommended dose for most adults is 600 mg / day. Patients weighing less than 50 kg can be given 400 mg / day. The medicine can be consumed twice a day, or 3-4 times a day according to the doctor's instructions.

What is the dose of disopyramide for children?

Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients (less than 18 years) are unknown.

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
