Clomethiazole is a drug that is used depending on the purpose for which you are taking this drug.
- To help you sleep at night, the dosage is one or two capsules before bed. The doctor will give this drug for a short period of time.
- To stop feeling restless, the dosage is one capsule three times a day.
To help you withdraw from alcohol, your doctor will start you at high doses. Then the doctor will gradually reduce the dose. Do not take more clomathiazole capsules than directed by your doctor. The maximum amount of time is usually 9 days.
If you have liver or kidney problems, the dose depends on how well your kidneys are working. The doctor may start at a low dose and gradually increase the dose.

If you experience a severe allergic reaction, stop taking this medicine and consult a doctor immediately. You may need urgent medical care. The signs are:

- blistered skin
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue or other parts of the body.
- shortness of breath, wheezing, or difficulty breathing.
Other possible side effects:
Tingling or nasal congestion. This can occur within 15 to 20 minutes of taking a Heminevrin dose

- eye pain and headaches
- runny nose and phlegm on the chest
- rash, itching
- upset stomach
- changes in the way the kidneys work (indicated by blood tests)
- feelings of excitement or confusion

What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
