What is Alverine for?
Alverine is an antispasmodic drug taken by mouth to relieve bloating and cramps in the lower abdomen (abdomen). These symptoms are generally associated with gastrointestinal conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and diverticular disease. Alverine can also be taken by mouth to help relieve stomach cramps due to menstruation. Alverine acts on the muscles in the lower abdomen, relaxing them.
What are the rules for using Alverine?
Before starting treatment, read the printed manufacturer's information brochure on the back of the package. This brochure will provide more information about alverine and will provide a list of the side effects you may experience from the drug.
Take the capsules according to the directions on the label. There are two capsule strengths — 60 mg, and 120 mg. The 120 mg capsule has the word "Forte" after the brand name. The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is 120 mg orally 1, 2, or 3 times per day, depending on how severe your symptoms are. Alverine is not suitable for children less than 12 years of age. Swallow the capsule with a glass of water. You can take alverine before or after meals.
