What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that uses hypnosis, in which a person's consciousness changes. Meanwhile, hypnosis is a stimulation to the lower realm when a person becomes easily directed, and loses the strength to react. With this hypnosis, a person is able to change long-term habits. Although there are scientists who disagree with how hypnosis works, the fact is that hypnosis does work.

What are the factors that influence the success of hypnotherapy?

In order for a therapy to run optimally, you need to pay attention to the following factors:

1. Endogenous factors

Endogenous factors are factors that come from within a person, for example regarding the characteristics he has. When going into hypnotherapy, make sure you have a good reason to change. For example, suppose you're someone who is shy, so you can't speak in public. You know that slowly it will stifle your other potential. Therefore, the reason you change is to want to grow more. You have to be willing to accept changes such as slowly starting to grow your confidence by starting the conversation first. So, the main key to successful hypnotherapy is encouragement from within.

2. Exogenous factors

Exogenous factors are factors that come from outside, or the environment. Hypnotherapy may work because of environmental factors too. If you are shy, but your job requires you to interact with a lot of people, then chances are that change is fast taking place. You may also have heard someone use the excuse, "The environment forces me to change." Well, this exogenous factor is also important.

How is the hypnotherapy process?

There are several steps that can be done when doing hypnotherapy, here are the steps:

1. Stage pre-talk

At this stage, the therapist performs the stage of extracting information. The therapist will find out what exactly caused you to have this bad habit, depression, or trauma. Before doing hypnotherapy, you can also do it yourself, so this will motivate you to consistently want to change.

The most important thing when extracting this information is honesty from yourself. Perhaps at this stage, you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable about revealing what happened in the past. But if there is resistance inside you, hypnotherapy is less likely to succeed. Extracting information must be done appropriately, because the therapist needs to get what to become disease and distress of a problem.Disease is a condition that causes you trauma, meanwhile distress is a condition that occurs after trauma.

2. SWOT analysis

Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats that's what SWOT stands for. Before you get to hypnosis, you need to know yourself. You can do things like this yourself. Try to think about what your strengths and weaknesses are, these two factors will make you more confident to change. Then also identify opportunities that you might get, and of course obstacles from within yourself. These obstacles can be that you give up easily when you fail, or don't focus on your goals.

3. Preduction stage

At this point, suggestions will begin to be designed, and prepared to influence your subconscious. If you want to be successful, you have to be sure. When you have the slightest doubt, the risk of failure will be even greater. Many people wonder about the method used, or feel worried during therapy, so that the therapy does not work.

4. The induction stage

At this stage of induction, the patient will be carried away from the waves alpha (the brain is in a conscious state) going into waves theta (brain waves are in the 3hz-8hz frequency, half asleep condition). In this condition, the patient is made semi-drowsy, relaxed, but still in a conscious state. Suggestions will be easy to enter in this condition. This induction stage also determines whether hypnotherapy is successful or not. When a person has not yet entered the state theta, his mind is still thinking, so even suggestions are difficult to enter.

5. Hypnosis stage

At this stage someone has started to put suggestions. Your body condition will be light, half asleep, but not sleep completely. Usually the therapist will enter suggestions one by one, not too many, so that these suggestions can work well. What needs to be considered at this stage is not to fall asleep, because suggestions are difficult to enter.

6. Stage posthypnotic suggestion

Suggestions will continue after the hypnosis is complete. The purpose of this stage is so that the patient's behavior is really shaped as expected. An example of a suggested suggestion could be, "From now on, when you look in the mirror, you will feel incredibly awesome."

"When you look at the paint on the walls in your room, you will feel excited and happy."

7. Stage termination

At this stage, the process of hypnotherapy ends. You will be brought back to consciousness. Of course, by not being woken up right away. There are words that will bring you back up.
