The government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, announced that the spike in new positive cases had increased to 309 cases. On Thursday (19/3), the total number of cases rose to 309 with a death rate of 25 people.
This death rate makes COVID-19 cases in Indonesia currently one of the worst. Namely the 8 percent mortality rate, compared to 4 percent globally.
"Hopefully there are no more cases that die. This means that this percentage is a number whose position today is a dynamic number and will change at any time, ”said Yuri.

On Tuesday (17/3) the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia increased by 38 new cases to a total of 172 cases. This figure consists of 5 cases of death and 10 people who recovered and the rest are still being treated at referral hospitals spread across various provinces in Indonesia.

This patient died at the Kariadi Semarang Hospital after receiving treatment for 10 days. This information adds to the number of cases of death to 6 people.

Namely, COVID-19 positive patients who do not have any symptoms are asked to self-quarantine at home.
"Now this does not mean that positive cases should be isolated in hospital. There are several positive cases without symptoms that will be quarantined independently, ”said Yuri.
Yuri did not explain further why this positive patient without symptoms had to be self-quarantined and did not get treatment from a hospital provided by the government.
Yuri also announced that people who have had contact with COVID-19 positive patients do not directly ask to be examined in the hospital. He asked them to self-quarantine and wait for symptoms.

The government announced that one patient died on Wednesday (11/3). The first patient who tested positive for COVID-19 in Indonesia who died was case 25 who was a foreign national (WNA).
The next three cases of death due to COVID-19 were announced Friday (13/3). Namely case 35, case 36, and case 50.
Case 35 is a 57 year old woman who previously needed help with a ventilator. Case 36 is a woman aged 37 years and Case 50, a man aged 59 years. Yuri said that the patient in case 50 had a sudden worsening of his condition and then could not be saved.
Unlike the previous announcement, this time the government did not explain the patient's age and condition, what the origin of this case was imported case, the cluster from which, or is a local transmission. The government only provides updates on the number of additional positive cases of COVID-19, patients recovered, and the death rate.
