What Drug Tigecycline?
What is Tigecycline for?
Tigecycline is a drug used to treat certain serious bacterial infections and may be resistant to other antibiotics. This drug is known as the glycycline antibiotic.
It is in the tetracycline class of antibiotics. Works by stopping bacterial growth.
How do I use Tigecycline?
This medication is given by injection into the pulse within 30-60 minutes by a healthcare provider. The dose is usually repeated every 12 hours or as directed by your doctor. The dose and length of treatment will depend on your condition and response to therapy.
If you are using this medicine yourself at home. Learn all preparation and usage instructions from your healthcare provider. Gently stir the medicine into the mixture. Don't shake it. The medicinal mixture should be yellow to orange in color. Before use, inspect this product visually for particles or a green / black discoloration. If there is either of the two, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and dispose of medical equipment safely.
Antibiotics work best when the amount of the drug in the body is kept at a constant level. So, use this drug at even intervals of time.
Continue to use this medication until the prescribed amount is finished even though the symptoms have disappeared within a few days. Stopping the drug too quickly allows the bacteria to continue to grow, which can lead to a return of infection.
Tell your doctor if your condition gets worse or doesn't get better within 14 days.
How do I store Tigecycline?
This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.
