What is the drug Tenecteplase used for?

Tenecteplase is a drug to prevent death from a heart attack (acute myocardial infarction).

Tenecteplase may also be used for purposes not listed in the medication guide.

How do you use the drug Tenecteplase?

Tenecteplase is injected into a vein through an IV. The health care provider will provide this injection.

Tenecteplase is usually given as soon as possible after the first signs of a heart attack.

This medication may cause unusual results with certain medical tests. Tell the doctor treating you that you have recently received Tenecteplase.

How to save Tenecteplase?

This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.

What should be considered before using the drug Tenecteplase?

Allergy

Tell your doctor if you have any unusual or allergic reactions to this or any other medicine. Also tell your doctor if you have any other types of allergies such as to food, coloring, preservatives, or animal allergies. For over-the-counter products, read the labels on the packaging carefully.

Children

This drug study has been performed only in adult patients, and there is no specific information comparing the use of Tenecteplase in children with use in other age groups.

Elderly

The need for treatment with Tenecteplase may be increased in elderly patients with blood clots. However, the chances of bleeding may also increase. It is highly recommended that you consult your doctor immediately to find out the right method of using this drug in the elderly.

Is the drug Tenecteplase safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

There are no adequate studies regarding the risks of using this drug in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Always consult your doctor to weigh the potential benefits and risks before using this medication. This medicine is included in the pregnancy risk category C. Side effects

What are the possible side-effects of Tenecteplase?

Seek immediate medical help if you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

Tell your nurse if you experience serious side effects such as these:

• There is blood in the urine or stool
• Nosebleeds, coughing up blood
• Bleeding from a recent injury or bleeding from the surgical incision wound
• Bleeding around the IV needle area
• Fast, slowed or irregular heartbeat
• Feel like passing out

Serious but rare side effects may include:

• The foot or toes turn purplish in color
• Upper stomach aches and pain spreads to the back, nausea and vomiting, fast heartbeat
• Sudden numbness, weakness, headache, confusion, vision problems, speech problems and balance problems
• Heavy chest or chest pain, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general feeling of pain
• Swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath, urinating less than usual or not at all
• Drowsiness, confusion, mood changes, increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting
• Muscle aches or pains with fever or flu symptoms and dark colored urine
• Pain or unusual sensation in your back
• Numbness, weakness or tingling in the legs
• Muscle weakness or inability to move muscles
• Loss of control of the bowel or bladder

Not everyone experiences the following side effects. There may be some side effects not listed above. If you have concerns about certain side effects, consult your doctor or pharmacist

What medicines can interfere with the drug Tenecteplase?

Although some drugs should not be taken at the same time, in other cases some drugs can also be used together even though interactions may occur. In such cases, the doctor may change the dose, or take other preventive measures as needed. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other over-the-counter or prescription drugs.

Taking this drug with any of the following medicines is not recommended, but may be needed in some cases. Your doctor may not prescribe this medicine to you or will replace some of the drugs you are already taking.

• Reteplase, Recombinant
• Reviparin

• Streptokinase
• Tenecteplase
• Tinzaparin
• Urokinase
• Warfarin

Using this medication with any of the following medicines may cause an increased risk of certain side effects, but using both drugs may be the best treatment for you. If these two drugs are prescribed together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both drugs.

• Aspirin
• Dipyridamole

Can certain foods and drinks interfere with the action of the drug Tenecteplase?

Certain drugs should not be used with meals or when eating certain foods because drug interactions can occur. Consuming alcohol or tobacco with certain drugs can also cause interactions to occur. Discuss your use of drugs with food, alcohol, or tobacco with your health care provider.

What health conditions can interfere with the performance of the drug Tenecteplase?

Any other health conditions you have can affect the use of this drug. Always tell your doctor if you have other health problems, especially:

• Blood disease, bleeding problems, or a history of bleeding in any part of the body or
• Brain disease or tumor or
• Heart or blood vessel disease, including an irregular heartbeat
• High blood pressure (hypertension)
• Liver disease
• Stroke - Chances of bleeding increase
• Infection - Chances of spreading the infection to the bloodstream

In addition, also tell your doctor if you have health conditions such as the following:

• Have had a collision due to a fall or blow to the head area or other injury or
• Receiving injection into a vein or
• Placement of any tube to the body or
• Surgery of any kind, including dental surgery - The chance for serious bleeding can increase

If you have recently had a baby, using this medicine may cause serious bleeding.

What is the dose of the drug Tenecteplase for adults?

Less than 60 kg: 30 mg IV bolus given over 5 seconds.

60 to less than 70 kg: 35 mg IV bolus given over 5 seconds

70 to less than 80 kg: 40 mg IV bolus given over 5 seconds

80 to less than 90 kg: 45 mg IV bolus given over 5 seconds

90 kg or more: 50 mg IV bolus given over 5 seconds

What is the dosage of the drug Tenecteplase for children?

Safety and effectiveness have not been determined in pediatric patients (less than 18 years).

In what dosages and preparations is Tenecteplase available?

Solution, Intravenous, 10 mg / ml (5 ml)

What to do in an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (118/119) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.

What should I do if I forget to take medicine or forget to take medicine?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
