What is Lypressin?
What is lypressin for?
This medication is used for cranial diabetes insipidus.
How is lypressin used?
Use this medication only as directed. Don't use more than recommended and don't use it regularly as your doctor has ordered. Doing so can increase the chance of unwanted effects.
How to use:
Slowly inhale your nose. Hold the bottle in an upright position. With the head of the bottle upright, spray the medication into each nostril by squeezing the bottle quickly. Do not lie down while spraying this medicine.
Rinse the tip of the bottle with hot water, do it carefully, don't let the water get sucked into the bottle and dry it with clean paper towels. Replace cap after use. Follow the rules given by your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
How is lypressin stored?
This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets. Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. What is the dose of lypressin for adults?
Each spray contains approximately 0.007 mg of lypression (equivalent to 2 units of posterior pituitary): 1-2 sprays in each nostril 4 times a day.
What is the dose of lypressin for children?
Each spray contains approximately 0.007 mg of lypression (equivalent to 2 units of posterior pituitary): ≥6 wk: 1-2 sprays in each nostril 4 times a day.
In what dosage is lypressin available?
0.185 mg (equivalent to 50 USP of posterior pituitary units per mL; or approximately 0.007 mg (equivalent to 2 posterior pituitary units) per spray (Rx)
Lypressin side effects
What side effects can be experienced due to lypressin?
Along with the necessary benefits, this medication can cause some unwanted effects. While not all of these effects can occur, if they do, medical attention may be needed. Check with your doctor right away if any of the following side effects occur, as these signs or symptoms indicate too much fluid in the body or an overdose: coma; confusion; convulsions (convulsions); drowsiness; headache (continues); problems with urinating; weight gain

- nasal congestion - can prevent the absorption of lypressin from the nose into the bloodstream, through the lining of the nose
- High blood pressure - Lypressin can increase blood pressure

What should I do in an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (112) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
