What medicine is Latanoprost?

What is latanoprost for?

Latanoprost is a drug used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to the glaucoma type open angle (open angle) or other eye disease (example: ocular hypertension). These are similar to natural chemicals in the body (prostaglandins) and work by regulating the flow of fluid in the eye resulting in lower pressure. Lowering the pressure inside the eye helps prevent blindness.

How do I use latanoprost?

Use this medication only on the affected eye, usually once a day at night, or as directed by your doctor. Do not use this medication more often than recommended. more use can reduce effectiveness.

To use eye drops, wash your hands first. To prevent contamination, do not touch the tip of the dropper package, until it comes into contact with eyes or other surfaces.

The preservative in this product can be absorbed by contact lenses. If you use contact lenses, remove them before using this medicine and wait at least 15 minutes after using latanoprost before putting them back on.

Tilt your head up, look up and pull on your lower eyelid to make a pocket. Place the eye drops directly over the eye and apply as many drops as your doctor recommends. Look down and slowly close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Gently press the inner corner of the eye close to the nose. This prevents the medicine from coming out. Try not to blink and rub your eyes.

Do not wash the eye drops. Close the eye drops again after use.

Use this remedy regularly to get the desired results. Remember to use this medication at the same time each day. It is important to continue using latanoprost even if you feel better. Most people with glaucoma or high pressure inside the eye don't feel pain.

If you are using another type of eye medicine (for example: drops or topical medication), wait about 5 minutes before using another product. Use the eye drops before the topical medication to allow the drops to enter the eye.

How is latanoprost stored?

This medication is best stored at room temperature, away from direct light and damp places. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Don't freeze it. Other brands of this drug may have different storage rules. Observe the storage instructions on the product package or ask your pharmacist. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Do not flush medicines down the toilet or down the drain unless instructed to do so. Discard this product when it has expired or when it is no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company about how to safely dispose of your product.

Latanoprost side effects

What side effects can latanoprost have?

Stop using latanoprost ophthalmic and contact your doctor immediately if you experience the following serious side effects:

• redness, swelling, itching, or pain in or around your eye
• discharge from the eye
• increased sensitivity to light
• vision changes; or
• chest pain

Mild side effects include:

• flu symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat
• headache, dizziness
• discomfort in the eyes
• blurred vision
• a feeling like something is in your eye
• dry or watery eyes
• stinging or burning feeling in the eye after using the eye drops

What should I do in an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or overdose, contact the local emergency services provider (112) or immediately to the nearest hospital emergency department.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
