Calcium chloride can also be used to treat hypoparathyroidism (lack of parathyroid hormone production), vitamin D deficiency and prevent hypocalcemia during blood transfusions.

What is the Calcium Chloride dosage for adults?

• The usual dosage for adults with hypocalcemia and calcium deficiency

Dose of 10-25 mmol with a dosing interval of 1-3 days, adjusted to the patient's health condition and monitor serum calcium. Calcium chloride is given by infusion slowly, not to exceed 1 ml / min (10% solution).

• The usual dose for adults with acute hypocalcemia (very low calcium levels)

A dose of 2.25 mmol by infusion slowly, repeated if needed or followed by a follow-up infusion at a dose of 9 mmol / day.

• The usual dose for adults with Hypocalcaemic tetany (a medical condition that causes muscle spasms due to parathyroid malfunction and calcium deficiency)

A dose of 2.25 mmol by infusion slowly, repeated if needed or followed by a follow-up infusion at a dose of 9 mmol / day.
