• Adults with tonsillitis or pharyngitis:

Can use a dose of 400 mg taken every 24 hours for 10 days.

• Adults with Cystitis:

Can use a dose of 400 mg taken every 24 hours for 7 days.

• Adults with Pneumonia:

What side effects can be experienced due to ceftibuten?

Ceftibuten is a drug that has certain side effects. Seek immediate medical help if you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor if you have serious side effects such as:

• watery or bloody diarrhea
• fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms
• unusual bleeding
• blood in the urine
• seizures
• pale or yellowish skin color, dark urine color, fever, confusion or weakness
• jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin)
• fever, swelling, bruising or itching, sore bones, or feeling unwell
• fever, sore throat, headache with red rash on the skin, flaky, scaly skin.
• increased thirst, no appetite, swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath, urinating less or not urinating at all.

Less serious side effects include:

• nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, abdominal discomfort, belching, constipation and mild diarrhea
• muscles feel stiff
• numb
• headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, restlessness, or hyperactivity
• dry mouth
• white or sore patches on the inside of the mouth or lips
• mouth tastes bad or strange
• clogged nose, when inhaling noisy breaths
• insomnia
• mild itching or skin rash
• vaginal itching or discharge.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you forget a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, when it is nearing the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Don't double the dose.
