The study involved 45 healthy people (women and men) with overweight conditions. Participants involved were aged 21-70 years. They were divided into three groups and each carried out three low cholesterol diets for 5 weeks.

The first group was asked to undergo a low-fat diet without avocado. The second group underwent an avocado diet. The third group underwent a fat moderation diet with Hass avocado consumption. This study was intended to determine whether avocado consumption plays a role in diet, affecting cholesterol levels in the body.

After being investigated, the results showed that participants who ate a low-fat diet without consuming avocado had the worst cholesterol levels, compared to participants who ate a diet with avocado.

The researchers concluded that a fat-moderated diet with avocado consumption could reduce LDL by 13.5 mg. Meanwhile, a fat-moderated diet without including avocado can lower 8.3 mg LDL points. Participants who underwent a low-fat diet lowered their cholesterol levels by 7.4 mg of LDL.

Looking at the research above, it can be concluded that avocado can contribute to lowering bad cholesterol or LDL levels.

Start a healthy diet with avocado

A diet by including avocado in the daily menu is a healthy idea to maintain your body's cholesterol.

In addition to cutting back on processed foods, to start this diet, you can combine slices of avocado with salads, vegetables, sandwiches, or low-fat protein foods (chicken or fish).
