How to wash your face properly

Here are the steps that are effective for removing makeup before going to bed:

  • Wash your hands before cleaning your face, applying make-up, or touching your face. If your hands are dirty, bacteria or dust can get on your skin.
  • Use a special makeup remover for each specific makeup. For example eye makeup remover and lipstick (two areas that are usually stubborn to clean), and regular makeup remover for other parts of the face.
  • After that, dry and try to wipe with a clean cotton. If any residue is visible on the cotton, this is a sign that it is not clean. You can use a facial cleanser that suits your needs, for example a cleansing toner, micellar water, cleansing balm, milk cleanser, or cleansing oil.
  • Wash your face with your usual facial soap. Wash your face with circular motions of hands until you feel the makeup has been rinsed off. You can also use a facial sponge or cotton ball to wipe the remaining cleanser off your face.
  • Rinse face with cold water. Washing your face with cold water closes open pores and improves circulation. Don't be stingy when you rinse your face. Really make sure the remaining residue of makeup and soap is washed away. When in doubt, rinse your face again with the cup of your hands.
  • Dry your face by lightly patting your face with a towel, or rubbing it gently. Don't rub it.
