Stubborn scars can affect a person's self-confidence. Removing scars such as smallpox marks, acne scars, abrasions or wounds from falling or being cut by sharp objects, on the body or on the face, is a question of many people.
How do you get rid of scars that don't go away? Here are tips you need to try.
Vitamin E for scars
To get a smooth body, a person can do a variety of ways to get rid of existing scars. Several ways include using creams that are believed to get rid of scars, using natural ingredients, or through medical procedures.
One of them is vitamin E. Vitamin E is also known to be good for the skin. But, is it really effective? A study has shown that taking vitamin E before and after surgery can speed up the healing process and prevent keloids from forming.
You can use creams, ointments, or supplements that contain vitamin E. You can also eat foods that contain enough vitamin E such as whole grains, nuts, and green vegetables. Even so, to ascertain the efficacy of using vitamin E still requires more research.
Remove scars through medical procedures
How to get rid of scars can be different, this is adjusted to the type of wound and its location. Treatment for acne scars will be different from smallpox scars, sharp cuts, or other accidents. If you have used creams, ointments, or supplements that contain vitamin E but they don't work, you can use the following methods.
1. Dermabrasion
If your scar is lumpy or higher than the surrounding skin, you can use this method. Dermabrasion is done using a special tool that will scrape certain parts of the skin surface. The result is a new layer of skin that will look smoother.
2. Microdermabrasion
This process is usually done for smaller or superficial areas of the wound, such as minor acne scars, fine lines, age spots, and dullness. Both dermabrasion and microdermabrasion can be performed at a beautician or dermatologist.
3. Steroid injections
For those of you who have wounds hypertrophic or keloid wounds can try to overcome them by using this one method. Steroid injections can help soften the appearance of this type of scar. Steroids will be injected into the scar area repeatedly over a long period of time to flatten the area.
4. Laser resurfacing
This treatment has a procedure similar to that of dermabrasion, and unlike previous laser treatments which require a longer recovery time. The use of the newest type of laser in this treatment can provide smoother results because it acts on the collagen tissue in the dermis without removing the top layer of skin.
5. Silicone press dressing
If you have skin graft scars or major burns, you can use this dressing. By using this dressing, the scar will be even and softer. This dressing is made of an elastic material and can be combined with a silicone gel sheet. A pressure dressing can be worn over the scar for 24 hours a day, for 6–12 months.
Things to remember
In addition to the several ways to get rid of scars above, you can also remove wounds by means of surgery. However, this method tends to cause new wounds.
All of the above methods cannot instantly get rid of scars. It takes several treatments to get maximum results. Whichever medical method you end up choosing, be sure to consult your doctor first.
